有天部落有人問我,哪裡可以買到進口的小米跟紅藜,我問說要做甚麼用的…他說部落收穫節要使用的,這時我心裡很驚訝難過…部落文化祭儀都已經在採用進口的小米跟紅藜了…這是不是意味著我們文化也正在遭受到侵蝕,感覺祭儀就像形式上的活動,而最重要的靈魂已經沒了….
紅藜---在市場上是一個被譽為超級食物的美麗作物,在部落裡是部落生活及經濟來源的作物,在市場上紅藜銷售情況並不理想,因受到進口的藜麥的影響使紅藜銷售情況一直不太好。
進口藜麥與臺灣紅藜是同本科而營養成分也相近,臺灣紅藜營養成分較進口藜麥多些,最不一樣的地方就是品種及新鮮度,因種植成本是全人力及數量少,使得價格上也差異大。
臺灣紅藜屬於臺灣原生種,而這臺灣原生紅藜是部落 VUVU 們代代相傳下來的作物,如今 VUVU 們越來越少了,可部落依舊有持續在耕作紅藜的人,市場在進口藜麥的競爭及價格較不親民,導致市面上的幾乎 99%都是進口藜麥,讓收購商望而卻步,也影響了部落生產的意願,少許的收購商,讓紅藜的出路少,紅藜出路少,部落 VUVU 們的收入也少了。
在經過這麼多年的堅持最後卻抵擋不了這些可能會消失的原生種,最近發生了因小米造成地方的憾事更是讓原生小米蒙上了陰影….部落若再無紅藜小米,就像失去了見證臺灣歷史軌跡的證據..為了使紅藜小米永續,我們想成立地方原生物產永續發展基地。

One day, someone in my tribe asked me where to buy imported millet and quinoa. I asked what they were for, and they said they were for the tribe's harvest festival. I was surprised and saddened. Tribal rituals were already using imported millet and quinoa. Does this mean our culture is being eroded? It feels like the rituals are just formalities, and the most important soul is gone...?
Quinoa—a beautiful crop hailed as a superfood in the market, it's a vital source of livelihood and income for the tribe. However, its market performance hasn't been very good, impacted by the impact of imported quinoa.
Imported quinoa and Taiwanese quinoa are from the same family and have similar nutritional profiles. Taiwanese quinoa has more nutrients than imported quinoa. The biggest difference lies in variety and freshness. Because cultivation is labor-intensive and the quantities are small, the price difference is significant.
Taiwan red quinoa is a native species of Taiwan, a crop passed down from generation to generation by the VUVUs in the tribe. While the number of VUVUs is dwindling, some still continue to cultivate it. Market competition and relatively low prices for imported quinoa have resulted in almost 99% of the market being imported, discouraging buyers and hindering the tribe's willingness to produce. With fewer buyers, the market for red quinoa is shrinking, and with it, the income of the VUVUs.
After so many years of perseverance, we are ultimately unable to resist the threat of extinction for these native species. The recent tragedy involving millet has cast a shadow over the native millet... If the tribe loses red quinoa, it would be like losing a witness to Taiwan's history. To ensure the sustainability of red quinoa, we intend to establish a base for the sustainable development of local native products.
